Finally! A Dragon Boat Festival in Whistler - Canada’s premier year-round destination resort! After many years of your requests, Water’s Edge has at last secured the opportunity to host a Dragon Boat Festival on beautiful Alta Lake!

A previous site of the Canadian Flatwater National Championships, Alta Lake and Rainbow Park are an ideal summer destination. Join us for a weekend spent in some of the most spectacular scenery in the world filled with beating drums, fierce paddling, cheering spectators, and live entertainment!

Whistler Dragon Boat Festival to benefit the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program

Whistler Adaptive Sports ProgramWhistler, June 10, 2008- Water’s Edge is helping hundreds of individuals with disabilities get active in water sports in Whistler.

The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (WASP) announced today that Water’s Edge will donate the proceeds of it’s beer garden, being held on June 28 and 29th at Rainbow Park, to WASP’s Adaptive Paddling Programs. Water’s Edge joins the Resort Municipality of Whistler, Scotiabank, TELUS and Captain Holiday’s Kayak and Adventure School in supporting this Initiative, which aims to increase the participation of individuals with a disability in adaptive water sports.

Wanna Participate But Don't Have A Team?

Calling all people who are interested in participating in the Whistler Dragon Boat Festival but don't have a team..... Water's Edge wants to help get you in a boat!
  • Do you and your co-workers want to try dragon boating but don't have 20 people for a team?
  • Is your team not participating in the event but you still want to race?
  • Would you like to try dragon boating but don't have a team?
  • Have a group of friends who would like to paddle together but don't have 20 people for a team?

The registration fees are as follows:

  • For the 200 m races (recommended for 1st time paddlers) $20.00 per person
  • For the 200 m, 500m & 1000m races $50.00 per person

Water's Edge supplies all the paddles, boats, coaches and steers people, all you have to do is show up! To top it all off we have some awesome draw prizes!!!!

Its Official…. The Whistler Dragon Boat Festival is Gonna Rock!

Whister Beer GardenBreaking News - Water’s Edge has officially secured approval to have a Beer Garden located at the festival site in Alta Park. The Pemberton Canoe Club’s Adaptive Paddling Program will be the official charity for the beer garden with partial proceeds going towards the purchase of an outrigger canoe for this special program. Help us build a legacy in Whistler and visit the beer garden in the Athletes Village!

Because this is a family-friendly event, children will be permitted in the beer garden area if accompanied by a parent or adult guardian over 19 years of age.
